Bill And Ted 3

'Bill & Ted 3' in the works, Keanu Reeves says

Keanu Reaves says a third "Bill & Ted" movie is in the works.

The 46-year-old actor played Ted alongside Alex Winter, 45, in the comedy movie franchise, which began with the 1989 film "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure." The movie spurred an animated series as well as catchphrases such as "Excellent!" and "Party on dude!"

The first film told of two dim-witted teenagers, who have a band called Wyld Stallyns and who use a time machine to bring back characters such as Socrates and Abraham Lincoln to use in a high school history class presentation.

"I believe the writers are six weeks away from a draft," Reeves told MTV News, referring to original writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon.

"No pressure!" he added. "We'll see. When we last got together, part of it was that Bill and Ted were supposed to have written the song that saved the world, and it hasn't happened. So they've now become kind of possessed by trying to do that."

The second "Bill & Ted" film, "Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey," was released in 1991 and also starred comedian George Carlin, who died in 2008 at age 71.

Reeves went on to star in movies such as "Speed" in 1994 and the "Matrix" trilogy. He is currently working on two independent films, "47 Ronin" and "Generation Um&," set for release in 2012. Winter is also known for his role as a vampire in the 1987 cult movie "Lost Boys." He also appeared on the show "Bones" in 2007.

Bill & Ted 3 Script Nearly Done: Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter Return

Keanu Reeves confirmed that a script for Bill & Ted 3 is nearly complete. The time-travel slacker comedy introduced the world to Keanu Reeves (Ted Logan) and Alex Winter (Bill S. Preston, Esq.), as they took a most excellent adventure through history. The sequel was Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, which was originally titled Bill & Ted Go to Hell.

A Bill & Ted sequel has been in the works for quite some time, in various forms, but this is the most concrete confirmation that we have that such a project will see the light of day. It's unclear who will take the role of Rufus, originally played by comedy legend George Carlin.

Keanu Reeves has also recently confirmed some upcoming Matrix sequels; though the second two films in the original Matrix trilogy have squandered a lot of good will, primarily because The Matrix: Reloaded and Revolutions were nonsense.

At any rate, Keanu Reeves says that a Bill and Ted 3 script, written by the saga's original screenwriters, is six weeks away from a first draft.
