Jesse Ventura ponders VP run

Jesse Ventura could seek office again—this time as a vice president. During a publicity tour for his new book “63 Documents the Government Doesn’t Want You to Read,” he discussed his possible re-entry into political life, as reported by USA Today.

“If Ron Paul runs as an independent, I will give great consideration to being his running mate,” Jesse Ventura told ABC’s Good Morning America.

The one caveat would be that Ron Paul would have to run as an Independent, meaning that the representative would have to eschew his Republican title to take on the former professional wrestler as his running mate. Ron Paul vied for the nomination in 2008 but lost out to Sen. John McCain.

Jesse Ventura ran as a member of the Reform Party when he was elected governor of Minnesota in 1998. After the party was taken over by supporters of Pat Buchanan in the 2000 presidential elections, Jesse Ventura aligned himself with the Independence Party of Minnesota, citing the Reform Party as becoming “hopelessly dysfunctional.”

Despite his political background, Jesse Ventura does not think it is realistic that a third party could get elected on the national level.

“[It’s] probably not [possible] because as Ralph Nader said we live under a two-party dictatorship.” Ventura tells CNN. . “Nobody else is let into the game.”

His book tour has also put him on “Piers Morgan Tonight,” where he said that Sarah Palin will win the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

“She’s the type of person that certainly will be controlled by the status quo and the power structure,” Jesse Ventura told Piers Morgan. “So she’d make a perfect candidate for them, she’ll do what she’s told.”

Jesse Ventura’s book, “63 Documents the Government Doesn’t Want You to Read,” is a collection of government files documenting incriminating behavior among politicians. The book is on sale now.
